Gentlemen: a toast!

In England in the 19th century, among the upper classes dining became an art. Dining became a formal occasion: a time when it was required that men wore full evening dress. Typically, evening dress meant white tie and tails. However in military situations, full dress meant Mess Dress. Amazingly, Mess Dress hasn't changed much at all from the mid-19th century to today.

Mess Dress varies widely. The differences are not from year to year, however, but rather from regiment to regiment. Mess Dress always consists of a short jacket, usually scarlet, worn with a waistcoat and trousers.

Our easy-to-use pattern helps you make a Victorian Era Men's Army Mess Dress Jacket and Waistcoat for the 1850s through 1910s.  Variations to conform to the 1856, 1868, 1881 and 1910s regulations included.  Full instructions on how to build the jacket according to period tailoring techniques included.

Now with extra Downton Abbey goodness!

Fits chests 34" to 54", waists 28" to 50", and hips 35" to 55". All sizes in one envelope.

Also included are assembly instructions, embellishment suggestions, and the extensive historical notes you've come to expect from Reconstructing History.

Suggested Fabrics: wool; linen or lightweight silk for lining; heavy linen, buckram or canvas for interlining

Notions: thread; buttons and braid for front and sleeve decoration; buckram or tailor’s canvas; wool felt or padding for collar; buttonhole floss

Yardage Requirements:
Tunic 2 yds 60” or 3.5 yds 45” wide
Waistcoat 1.5 yds 60” or 2 yds 45” wide
lining 3 yds 45” wide
interlining 2 yds 45” wide

Eufy beats the other guys in everything
Size: L60 Hybrid-renewed
We thought our old Eufy died so I ordered this since I always wanted the self-emptying model and the roller hair cutter was a big bonus since we have a chocolate lab that sheds a small bunny's worth of hair every day. Easy to set up, get added to the app, and just works. I will have to order more bags for the cleaning station, but overall very happy with this purchase even though the old Eufy started to work again right after this arrived.

Eufy vacuum
Size: L50 Hybrid-renewed
The device works really well. The battery doesn’t last that long which is a bummer but the product does what it states. I hope I don’t have to replace the battery yearly. My floors are clean tho and I have a dog and cat and multiple surfaces, all of which it cleans well even with difficult door thresholds.

I’m happy with it
Size: L50 Hybrid-renewed, Size: L50 Hybrid-renewed
Works great. Edit: After a week that I wrote works great, it had the issue that when it starts cleaning it looses power and shuts off after it leave the dock. When it disengages from charging it’s dead basically so unfortunately I returned it. But I will buy it again I was happy with it.

Charging base makes awful high pitch noise.
Size: L50 Hybrid-renewed
It cleans fine but the charging base emits a terrible high pitch noise. I have to unplug it when nearby. Cats no longer want to sleep in the same room as the vacuum base. Update: A little over a year later and it appears the vacuum's onboard wifi module has passed the rainbow bridge to electric heaven. Can no longer connect the L50 to the app or local wifi. Tried resetting, reverting to older version of app, changing my wifi to 2ghz only. Trying setup in airplane mode. Nothing works.

It worked!
Set name: 10 Jumbo, Set name: 10 Jumbo
I bought this to fit a full size 4" memory foam mattress topper. I gotta say it took 3 of us. 1 to lay on the memory foam and 2 of us to get it shoved in and keep pulling the bag up. But it actually fit! My arm was dying using the hand pump so we used a vacuum. It worked better than the hand pump. Due to what I was storing it did not shrink very flat, but compared to the size of the memory foam it shrunk a lot and will definitely save space! The bags arrived today so I dont know how well it holds up long term but the bag was very sturdy yanking it up around the foam. Didn't tear or stretch. And it actually fit!
